Nilavilakku is the traditional brass lamp in Kerala. The Nilavilakku is integral to several rituals and ceremonies in Hindu and Saint Thomas Christian families in Kerala.

The diyas are mainly used  as oil lamps. The wrick is made from cotton and the oil used is mostly vegetable oil.
How to maintain :Â Use brass cleaning solutions to clean them once in a month. Tamarind can also be used to bring polish.
